travel flexibility can save you hundreds on airfare

At Jaya, we strive to always provide you with the lowest airfares possible. That’s why we’d like to let you in on some travel savvy: travel flexibility is the key to saving money on your next vacation. Here are a few tips for saving money on airfare the next time you travel.

How Travel Flexibilty Saves You Money

Check multiple airports

When you approach your travel agent with a new vacation plan, the first thing they’ll do is check prices at the nearest airport. Flying out of the nearest airport is certainly the most convenient option, but if you’re willing to do a bit of traveling, you could save hundreds of dollars on airfare. Take a look at the map and if there are other major airports within a reasonable driving distance, ask your travel agent to consider departures from those cities as well. The cost of a minor road trip and parking may still come in hundreds cheaper, depending on where you live.

Choose the flights no one else wants

Sure, leaving for the airport right after work and catching the 8 pm flight is great. You don’t have to get up early or late. However, if you’re on the hunt for a bargain flight, consider taking the flights that no one wants. You know: the red eyes, the early mornings, the late nights. You may have to wake up before dawn or stay up to the wee hours of the morning, but hey, you can sleep on the plane and save money on airfare.

Consider flying midweek

Many people’s first instinct is to start their vacation on a Friday after work. There’s something to be said about sandwiching a trip between weekends. However, you may want to consider kicking off your trip midweek. Flights departing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays may be significantly cheaper than those leaving on more popular days like Fridays and Saturdays. A little travel flexibility goes a long way!

Look at the prices first, then worry about dates

When most people decide on a vacation, they pick the dates first and then look for flights within that range. There’s nothing wrong with planning your vacation this way. However, if you’re willing to be flexible on the date range, you could save hundreds on airfare. Prices fluctuate greatly so if you’re willing to move your vacation even by a week or two, the prices could be several hundred less per ticket. Make sure to ask your Jaya agent about checking prices for different date ranges.
